Troubleshooting Process
If a problem occurs, there is an underlying cause. I call this the Detective Game, because once I’ve isolated the problem, it’s usually simple to solve. The goal is to solve the problem in a timely manner, and that requires an organized approach.
• Consider the problem’s history.
• Isolate and repeat the problem.
• Suspect a recent change or addition.
• Attempt easy fixes first.
• Inspect common points of failure.
• Make one change at a time.
• Update software if needed.
• Divide complex problems into single issues.
• Keep a log of problems and solutions.

How about a tuneup?
  • Improve your computer’s performance
  • Solve reliability issues
  • Remove programs you no longer use
  • Fix the small, annoying stuff
